William Hibbitts, ND
Dr. William Hibbitts is a naturopathic doctor focusing on chronic pain, sports medicine, osteoarthritis, and ozone therapies. Dr. Hibbitts combines a rigorous comprehension of conventional medicine with an emphasis on natural treatment modalities.
Dr. Hibbitts’ journey to naturopathic medicine began with a trek in a remote part of the Andean highlands. There he encountered children who were so lacking in health care that they begged for medicine instead of candy or toys. Quickly exhausting his backpacker first aid kit, Dr. Hibbitts began to think about the immensity of the unmet need in health worldwide, and has dedicated himself to helping alleviate this need ever since.
Dr. Hibbitts served as a public health volunteer for the U.S. Peace Corps in Guinea, West Africa, where he worked closely with village medical staff. He also became familiar with the practices of a local Karamoxo (traditional healer), who possessed an astounding intimate knowledge of the local medicinal herbs. From this dual experience, Dr. Hibbitts built a philosophy of healing that incorporates the best of both naturopathic and allopathic medicine.
After returning home, Dr. Hibbitts was accepted to a traditional medical school but, - upon reviewing the school’s curriculum and noting the complete absence of courses in natural healing modalities – he chose instead to attend the National College of Natural Medicine (NCNM) in Portland, Oregon. There, in addition to his studies on pain, Dr. Hibbitts completed additional training in prolotherapy, ozonotherapy, and botanical medicine. Dr. Hibbitts was chosen among his peers to represent his graduating class as the commencement speaker at his graduation.
